The thermosensitive gauge-switch of the fan of system of cooling

The general data


The thermosensitive gauge-switch carries out inclusion of the fan on reaching temperature of a cooling liquid of value 95 ÷ 99°С. Disconnection of contacts of the gauge-switch occurs at decrease in temperature to value not more low 88°С.

The gauge-switch will screw in the right lateral capacity of a radiator. Tightness of connection is reached by installation aluminium sealing washers. The top part of the case of the gauge-switch is equipped лысками under a wrench on 27 mm.

On the gauge-switch case there are two conclusions for electroconducting connection. A food on the gauge moves only at the included ignition. Chain protection is provided with a safety lock № 4 (15).

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Before to start gauge-switch removal, wait full cooling of the engine and a radiator.

1. The Gauge-switch will screw in a radiator body.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery, then merge a cooling liquid, having lowered its level below level of an arrangement of the gauge-switch. Alternatively, prepare a suitable stopper to which can muffle an aperture under gauge-switch installation. Try not to damage a radiator and not to admit hit in system of dust and extraneous subjects.

3. Disconnect from the gauge-switch electroconducting.

4. Cautiously turn out the gauge-switch and remove it from a radiator. Remove also a sealing washer. If the cooling liquid did not merge, immediately muffle an aperture the prepared stopper.

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Installation is made upside-down. Do not forget to replace a sealing washer. Tighten the gauge-switch with demanded effort, then add in system necessary quantity of a cooling liquid.
2. In summary start the engine and warm up it to normal working temperature. Make sure of serviceability of functioning of the fan - it should join and be switched off in due time.


The gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid (CTS)

CHECK

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. On petrol models CTS it is established in a thermostat casing in the left part of a head of cylinders.

2. On diesel models the gauge is in a target branch pipe охладительного a path in a forward part of a head.

On models 1.3 of the l equipped with system of the central injection (SPFI), the gauge is connected only with a temperature measuring instrument. On all other models CTS serves also for definition of temperature of systems of injection of fuel (petrol engines) or preheat (diesel engines).

3. The stabilised pressure of a food on a measuring instrument of temperature from an instrument guard (through the switch of ignition and a safety lock). The condition of a contour of grounding of a measuring instrument is supervised by gauge CTS. The basic component CTS is термистор - the resistor which resistance falls with temperature increase. At a cold cooling liquid resistance термистора is great and through a measuring instrument passes a small current, thus the arrow of the index is in the bottom range of a scale (dark blue sector). In process of a warming up of the engine resistance of the gauge falls, the current grows also an arrow is displaced aside upwards, coming nearer to red sector of a scale. Faulty CTS is subject to replacement.
4. In default CTS first of all it is necessary to check up serviceability of functioning of other components of a combination of devices - if they are at all disconnected, check up food presence on a guard. If indications of measuring instruments are astable, is faulty there can be built in in the printed-circuit board of an instrument guard a voltage stabilizer with which it is necessary to replace (see the Head the Onboard electric equipment). If refusal only a temperature measuring instrument takes place, execute the checks stated in below-mentioned paragraphs.
5. If the arrow of a measuring instrument remains within dark blue sector of a scale at the heated-up engine, disconnect electroconducting from CTS and earth a corresponding wire on weight of a head of cylinders. If at inclusion of ignition of the marksman will deviate, the gauge is faulty and is subject to replacement. If any changes in behaviour of a measuring instrument does not occur, remove a combination of devices (the Onboard electric equipment see the Head) and check up on conductivity presence on a chain site between the gauge and a measuring instrument. If conductivity takes place, hence, is faulty and the measuring instrument is subject to replacement.
6. If the arrow of a measuring instrument constantly is in a red range of a scale, without reacting in any way to engine cooling, disconnect electroconducting from the gauge. If the arrow returns to the scale beginning at ignition inclusion, it is necessary to replace CTS. Otherwise check up the chain rest.

REMOVAL

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Before to start removal CTS, wait full cooling of the engine and a radiator.

1. Partially merge a cooling liquid (below level of arrangement CTS), or prepare approaching заглушку.

2. Disconnect from CTS electroconducting. Now it is necessary to define type of the gauge established on your car. The gauge can have as free, or carving landing.

3. The gauge supplied with a carving is simply turned out from the engine. Do not forget to remove a sealing washer.

4. The gauge of free landing is fixed by a special clip which preliminary should be taken.

5. Then the gauge is simply taken from the nest.

6. In summary also remove a sealing ring.

INSTALLATION

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. On the gauge with screw landing replace a sealing washer, then screw the gauge on the regular place and strongly tighten it.
2. In case of the gauge with free landing establish on it a new sealing ring, then push assemblage in a landing nest and fix its clip.
3. Connect electroconducting, then add in system necessary quantity of a cooling liquid.


The gauge of temperature of system of injection of fuel (petrol models)

CHECK

1. On models 1.3 of l with the central injection of fuel (SPFI) the temperature gauge is screwed in in a back part of the inlet pipeline. On all other engines the gauge is combined with CTS and established in a thermostat casing on the left end of a head of cylinders.

2. The gauge represents термистор. The electronic block of management (ECU) control systems of the fuel engine/injection submits pressure of a food on the gauge and measures a current strength, the gauge proceeding in a working chain which size is defined by temperature термистора. The received information is used then among other entrance signals at definition of the moment and duration of operation of injectors, installation of turns of idling etc.
3. At infringement of serviceability of functioning of a chain of gauge ECU starts to ignore developed термистором a signal, using instead of it the certain effective average value providing adequate functioning of under control systems. Simultaneously on an instrument guard the control lamp warning the owner of a vehicle about necessity of the reference on a car repair shop joins. Condition check actually the gauge is possible only with application of the firm diagnostic input reader of company Skoda. In order to avoid risk of a conclusion out of operation ECU it is not necessary to undertake attempts to understand a situation by means of any other make-shifts.
